My dearest mate,

Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to spend Tuesday evening with you. I pray to the gods that we’ll have many such an evening together and more. Until that time, know that you’re in my thoughts.

While I know some of these treats are a bit higher in carbs than you normally indulge in, I hope as you savor each bite, you are reminded that I feel the same of each moment I get to spend with you.

Thinking of you, L

“Holy shit, she’s clearly smitten and a bit of a poet.”

Archer snapped his head up. He’d been so focused on Lludd’s words that he hadn’t noticed Geraldo sidle close to read over his shoulder. It was on the tip of his tongue to correct the pronoun, but Archer hesitated.

Then Archer thought of how thoughtful it was of Lludd to use his initial, just in case he wasn’t out. Except, technically, he wasn’t out, at least not to anyone in his department. It just hadn’t come up. Archer had never had anyone attempting to claim him as his own before.

Still, unwilling to lie, even by omission, Archer decided with only Geraldo in the office, it was a good time to test the waters. If his closest friend on the force was going to have an issue with it, he needed to know as soon as possible. After all, Archer wasn’t going to deny Lludd once they got together.

And when the fuck did I decide we’d get together?

As soon as Archer had the thought, he knew the answer. Hell, even if he wasn’t experiencing the most erotic wet dreams of his life, Lludd’s thoughtfulness of his eating habits showed he cared. The gargoyle probably had to go to a lot of work to put the gift basket together. Seeing as Lludd couldn’t go to the city, which was probably where most of the stuff had to be picked up, he would have needed to beg assistance from someone.

“Actually, wrong pronoun, Geraldo,” Archer stated, taking a step sideways to place the desk between them. At the same time, he slid the basket closer to him and picked up the blueberry muffin. “L stands for Lludd.”

Geraldo’s eyebrows shot up. His dark, nearly black eyes rounded. Then a wide grin split his lips.

“Oh, hey, I didn’t know you were like me.” Geraldo waggled his brows. “You should have told me you were bisexual. We coulda gone bar hoppin’ together sometime.”

It suddenly hit Archer that he’d been holding himself back. He could have had a much closer relationship with Geraldo if he’d been honest with his friend. Realizing it wasn’t too late, he shrugged.

“I lean more toward the gay side of that, Geraldo,” Archer admitted to him with a smirk. “Never found a woman who interested me... so maybe just gay.”

Geraldo chuckled as he nodded. “All right, man.” He lifted his fist, and Archer bumped it. “So, gonna share? How long you been with Lludd? When do I get to meet him?”

Laughing, Archer reached in and grabbed the double chocolate chip muffin and tossed it to him.
